About IAWCSF
MISSION
The mission of the International Alliance of Wound Care Scholarship Foundation (IAWCSF) is to support the community across the wound healing continuum by enabling advanced education and certification thereby enhancing opportunities to health care professionals who are looking to serve this portion of the population.
PURPOSE
The purpose of the corporation is to provide financial aid in the form of scholarships to those individuals pursuing an education in the area of wound care. The funds are to be used specifically for advanced education and subsequent certification in wound care.
WHO WE ARE
International Alliance of Wound Care Scholarship Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit corporation operated exclusively for educational and charitable purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, or the corresponding section of any future Federal tax code.
WHAT WE DO
In the United States alone, there are estimated to be 6.5 million people living with chronic wounds, with a total cost burden of over $39 Billion dollars annually. Based on these statistics, it is clear that there is a need for more highly trained health care professionals to treat this problem.
The International Alliance of Wound Care Scholarship Foundation (IAWCSF) accepts applications and nominations for wound care education and certification scholarship funding. The Foundation is operated by a governing board that makes determinations (based on established application criteria) regarding who to award scholarship funding to. Scholarship applicants must be licensed health care providers in good standing with their licensing body, and must also have at least 2 years of full-time or 4 years of part-time work experience.
Scholarship applications are accepted and reviewed on an ongoing basis throughout the year. There are no residency restrictions to apply. Selected scholarship recipients are awarded funding which must be used to complete advanced education specific to wound care, and additionally a certification in wound care.
